'Kandada' Project Tokyo - the return of a Command N space.

Artists Collective Command N will initiate a new project space called 'Kandada', named after Kanda - an area in the eastern part of the business district of Tokyo - and Dada. Command N artist and leader, Masato Nakamura spoke about this new initiative at the Publicly Speaking roundtable forum. Basically a large empty rundown office space in an old building, Kandada will focus on artists who work in a project based manner. The first exhibition/ presentation will include documentation and works by ten or so artists who work in this way. They also plan to create an archive of such projects. This is welcome news in Tokyo, where non institutional or commercial spaces have been dwindling of late. It marks the return of a Command N space in Tokyo, and hopefully the resurgence of interesting critical public projects.
The opening exhibition happens on Monday 26th September at the new space. Map can be found here. For more information on Command N go here.
