Strolling through Shibuya yesterday I came across a couple of interesting things. An old tyre tied by someone to a tree guard on the pavement, presumably to act as a cushion for a car that regularly parks there. To the right is an image of the entrance to the Hanzomon subway line at Shibuya which was transformed into a proto-religious site for people to write wishes on pieces of paper and tie them onto tree branches. Hanging from the ceiling were brightly coloured festival decorations.
I can't see the right one.

I enjoy your blog and the photos of the tires and the impromptu subway shrine. I bought an English journal years ago called THINGS that often explored these kinds of apparitions. They have a good website www.thingsmagazine.org
I also like the micrograffiti photo. I created what could also be called a kind of micrograffitti in the Aoyama district of Tokyo back in 1995 for Jan Hoet's "Ripples Across The Water" exhibition. I sometimes wonder if any of them still exist...

Thanks Ross for your comments. Where abouts did you micro-graffitti? It would be good to try to excavate it if possible....I could post it up?
