Ad campaign posters currently up at Shibuya station, Tokyu Toyoko line, indicating that Freedom is only a Cup Noodle away. Nissin, makers of Cup Noodle have devised a marketing campaign called the 'Freedom Project ' in collaboration with famous animator Ohtomo Katsuhiro. The Japanese only website explains how since 1971 cup noodle has revolutionised the eating habits of the Japanese by creating a 3 minute instant meal available anytime, anywhere. They claim that now it is time to reflect on this 'freedom' offered by the invention of the cup noodle.
Ohtomo's animation is based in the 23rd Century and seems to centre around a group of young men riding large hover bike vehicles around a concrete track, in what could be a futuristic homage to 'Easy Rider' and other 'free-spirited' road movies. The poster image shows one of the riders, mouth partially open in a gesture of satisfaction, about to eat a Cup Noodle. Welcome to the Noodle Revolution....
